An Arts Club of Washington wedding is the perfect way to celebrate your love for one another in a unique and creative way! With a beautiful outdoor courtyard and an art gallery that hosted all the dancing and celebration for the night, it was a really special space that seemed to perfectly suite Erin and Emil’s style.
Originally from the Washington, DC area, Erin and Emil planned their entire wedding while living across the country in Los Angeles!
Family and friends are very important to them, therefore they were very interested in their photos centering around all of the moments that happened during the wedding and less interested in the traditional dress and detail shots.
We were happy to oblige, given that we love spending the time seeking out both the small, intimate moments that happen as well as the more epic and energetic moments.
Erin got ready at the historic Hotel Lombardy which is conveniently located right next door to the Arts Club of Washington. She and her sister-in-law had their hair and makeup done while her mother was on grandmother duty with her sister-in-law’s sweet baby girl.
It was a very relaxing morning spent together with a surprise visit from one of her close friends, Michal, one of our former brides!
Erin and Emil’s first look was in the courtyard of the Arts Club of Washington, which was perfectly private and secluded. As Emil saw Erin for the first time we captured what might be one of the best reactions of a groom seeing his beautiful bride. His expression said it all as he greeted Erin and saw her gorgeous dress for the first time.
Given the couple’s history with DC, it was only natural that we set out to take some portraits around the city. We encouraged them to select locations that held personal significance to them, so we found ourselves beginning on the stoop of Emil’s old apartment, where he and Erin would sit and chat while they were dating. From there we went to Dupont Circle park and metro station, took some photos on one of the City Bikes, which was a favorite pastime of theirs, and walked around the area to see what great backdrops we could find.
The ceremony was lovely, held in the beautiful outdoor courtyard and officiated by Erin’s brother and sister-in-law.
The reception made use of the entire Arts Club, hosting the dinner in the courtyard and dancing inside in one of the art galleries.
For dessert the guests were treated to a large selection of pies from the Pennsylvania Dutch Farmers Market in Annapolis, MD. When the dancing began everyone joined the bride and groom on the dance floor and celebrated their beautiful wedding day. Emil’s father proved to be quite the dancer, spending majority of the night out on the dance floor!
Erin and Emil’s Arts Club of Washington wedding was an absolute success as everyone danced into the night.
Congratulations Erin and Emil! We wish you both a lifetime of love and adventure together!
