On June 1, 2013, friends and family gathered for Lauren and Paul’s Charlottesville Wedding.
Held at the Montfair Resort Farm, it was an absolutely gorgeous location to have a wedding! Both Lauren and Paul live in Charlottesville and they were excited to invite their family and friends to come spend the day in the area they have grown so fond of and now call home.
We met Lauren and Paul when we were photographing his younger sister Katie’s wedding last year in Kansas City, Missouri. We had also previously done Katie’s engagement session in Oregon and a siblings photoshoot with him, his sister Katie and other sister Ann in Washington, DC, so we were already growing pretty fond of this family and were excited to spend another significant event with them!
Lauren and her bridesmaids had their hair done at a salon in Charlottesville and then we joined them back at Montfair Resort Farm to take photos of them getting ready.
Not only did Lauren do her own makeup, she did one of her bridesmaids’, which we thought was pretty cool! She was one relaxed bride!
She was so relaxed, in fact, that she didn’t even seem to mind when all of a sudden it started to pour!
Her bridesmaids rushed out to gather all of the decorations from the ceremony site so they wouldn’t get ruined, which is the sign of a really top notch bridesmaid if you ask us!
The skies cleared and everyone pitched in to reassemble the ceremony decorations.
Once everything was in its place it was time to get dressed!
The ceremony was in a grassy meadow nestled amongst the rolling hills near the Shenandoah Valley. By the time the ceremony started the skies were a deep blue and the sun was shining a warm glow down on everyone.
Lauren and Paul’s Charlottesville wedding had a distinctive Victorian style. From the minimally decorated arbor that featured a gold star garland to the vintage fans offered to the wedding guests this wedding was unique!
The groom wore a Victorian patterned jacket with a paisley vest and some of his groomsmen opted to wear Victorian inspired clothing as well. Even Paul’s father got into the theme and donned a top hat and tails!
The reception was held at the lakeside reception hall. The Victorian theme was sprinkled throughout the reception decor as well, with feather hair clips for the ladies, a bird cage to collect messages from their guests and vintage props for the photo booth.
The guests were treated to a bonfire, games and of course sparklers!
Congratulations Lauren and Paul! We wish you a lifetime of love and adventure!
