It’s no secret that we love to travel, for our own enjoyment and also for work, which is why we were excited about a Columbus, Ohio engagement session!
There is something about working in a new place that gives you a respect and appreciation for what makes each location unique. We had originally planned on doing Susan and Zach’s engagement session in Washington, DC. Susan grew up in the suburbs of Maryland and her love of the area drove her decision to have her home featured in her engagement photos.
Both recent graduates from law school at Ohio State, a new job offer in Columbus meant that it was going to be harder for them to arrange a trip down to Washington anytime soon. We jumped at the chance for a Columbus, Ohio engagement session and add another city to our growing number of places we’ve worked in.
Like every good pet owner, Susan and Zach asked if we would mind incorporating their dog Griffey into their engagement session. Being dog lovers ourselves we had no problem with this! The only issue we saw was that we would have a hard time leaving Griffey to finish the rest of the session. 🙂
We knew we were up against a forecast for rain sometime during the day, but lucky for us it held off enough for us to spend the afternoon at the Columbus Park of Roses. The roses were in full bloom and the air smelled sweet as we explored the rose garden.
After we finished we headed over to the Short North area of downtown Columbus to use one of their public art murals as a backdrop.
The rains came as we drove away and lucky for us that they did because it provided an impromptu stop at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. We were able to take shelter while also taking some fun photos around the library.
Once the rains ended and Susan and Zach treated us to a delicious Italian dinner at one of their favorite local spots, we went down to the river to get some shots of them at night with the lights of the city shining behind them.
We ended the night at with a treat at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. We said goodnight to Susan and Zach and left feeling VERY excited for their upcoming wedding in Virginia!
