June 7th, 2012…
I first worked with Katie when she asked me to do a photoshoot with her and her siblings Ann & Paul in DC and Northern Virginia. The photos were for a book she was designing as a gift for her parents’ anniversary. From that moment on, I have developed a great relationship with her and her family. In addition to photoing this wedding in Kansas City, they flew me to Oregon to do a four day engagement shoot across the entire state. Then a year later, we were invited to Charlottesville, VA to photograph Paul’s marriage to his wife Lauren. Each time we are welcomed with open arms and treated like family, which only makes us want to work harder to deliver images that they can cherish forever.
The experience of photoing Katie & Luke’s wedding will always be a special one for us. At the time, it was the furthest we had traveled to photograph a wedding (just over 1,000 miles from NC) and it was also our first time to visit Kansas City. Adventure all around!
The day started with us photoing Katie and her bridesmaids getting ready in a beautiful bridal suite…
From there, it was on to the ceremony and portraits downtown!
As I had seen from our engagement shoot in Oregon, Katie and Luke are quite adventurous when it comes to traveling to epic photo locations (more on that later), so it was no surprise that they rented a trolly to take the entire bridal party over to Union Station for photos! The shots on the bridge with just the two of them turned out to be our favorite photos of the day.
By the end of our trip, we returned home with memory cards filed with the first moments of Katie and Luke’s married life. And giving them the gift of lifetime memories is why we do what we do.
Many thanks to Katie’s family for always trusting me with these special moments of their lives.
Now here are some more of our favorites from our time in Kansas City!
