On our way out to photo a wedding in Napa, CA this summer, we kicked off our mini National Parks Tour with a day exploring the unstoppable beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park.
We first visited last year where we were treated to a picturesque snow fall and herds of grazing elk. It was magnificent!
We were excited to return this June when the park was fully open and we were able to explore even more of its beauty.
As we entered the park we picked up an America the Beautiful National Parks Pass.
For only $80 we got an annual pass that grants us access to all the national parks!
So began our quest to see as many national parks as we could on our way to photo a wedding in Napa!
Our 2016 Annual National Parks Pass!!!
Rocky Mountain National Park did not disappoint. The fresh air, snow capped mountains the rushing waterfalls and gorgeous lakes, it was an excellent start to our adventures! We made our way up Trail Ridge Road to the Alpine Visitor Center and then hiked up to the top to reach 12,005 feet above sea level. The views from the top were gorgeous.
Another favorite was the hike to Emerald Lake, where we passed beautiful lakes and waterfalls and fallen trees that had such great texture and shape we couldn’t help but take photos!
We ended at Emerald Lake and sat looking out at Flattop Mountain. In the distance you could see a waterfall flowing down into the lake. It was absolute perfection!
