August is a perfect time for a Saratoga Springs engagement!
The weather is absolutely perfect, flowers are in bloom and there is an extra energy in the air because it is horse racing season at the Saratoga Race Track.
Rachael and Joe love Saratoga as much as we do so we couldn’t wait to get our day started at The Yaddo Gardens, an artist retreat with a beautiful formal rose garden that is open to the public.
It turns out that Rachael and Joe have a personal connection to the area. Quite a few of Rachael’s family, including her parents, have gotten married here and Joe own’s a restaurant in the heart of downtown called The Merry Monk.
The Merry Monk is tucked along one of the side streets of downtown Saratoga and according to Rachael serves some really great mussels!
It also served as a great second location for their engagement session! 🙂
Joining Joe behind the bar, Rachael posed while pretending to serve him a drink. This was a great place for some sweet moments between the two of them because they were able to relax in a familiar environment while posing for our cameras.
The Canfield Casino in Congress Park is a historical landmark that is a very popular spot for weddings, and once we were inside it was clear to us why!
We stopped in to take a few photos with Rachael and Joe because this building holds a significant piece of history in Rachael’s family. It is the spot where her parents were married years ago!
Our Saratoga Springs engagement ended in Congress Park, where Rachael and Joe enjoyed a drink from one of Saratoga’s natural springs.
The park provided many opportunities for them to show their personality as they playfully splashed each other in the spring and made the most of the beautiful weather.
After spending the day with them we are eager for their wedding in Albany!
