When Hope asked me to photo her wedding I was honored and incredibly excited. We’ve been friends for years and she knew she would be comfortable having me around her all day, documenting and searching for those special moments between mother, father, bride and bridesmaids. I was excited because instead of simply being a spectator, I was able to be an active participant, capturing all of the excitement and energy as she prepared to walk down the aisle.
I knew I was in for a fun day when one of her bridesmaids arrived to get ready with a karaoke machine! What came next was hours of singing, dancing, and reminiscing.
The tradition of rain was kept alive on their wedding day. It rained when they were engaged and it rained during our engagement photo session with them, so it was fitting for their most special day. The ceremony was located at St. Mary’s which has a charming chapel and beautiful grounds to take photos. We also made use of some of the spectacular large windows and a grand porch for the bridal portraits.
The look on Hope and Rob’s face as they burst through the chapel doors after the ceremony said it all, they were married and so very happy about it. Traditionally after the ceremony the bride and groom head to the side of the chapel to the bell tower to ring the bell and share with everyone the good news!
After some quick family portraits Hope and Rob jumped in a pedicab pedaled by Raleigh Rickshaw and headed to the reception at North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Their first dance was under the watchful eye of family, friends and a few dinosaurs!
After dinner and cake came a whole lot of dancing and merriment. Leading the party was Hope’s niece and flower girl, who had just as good a time as everyone!
Hope and Rob left the reception with a sparkler sendoff, heading off on to their tropical honeymoon to start their married lives together!
