Claire and Jay’s Washington, DC wedding, complete with Kennedy Center Wedding Portraits, was our first wedding during the pandemic.
The time leading up to this day was so uncertain. From rescheduling their cherry blossom engagement session in March to eventually seeing the need to ultimately cancel it, we all were unsure if this day was going to be able to happen in 2020.
We were so happy that Claire and Jay were able have their wedding this August! It may not have looked exactly like it was originally planned, but on their day it was clear that all that mattered was they were married and that they were able to celebrate with the ones they loved.
Honestly, that is what we have loved the most about these smaller, more intimate celebrations. What may be scaled down in size is in no way scaled down in love.
DETAILS
GETTING READY
Claire and her bridesmaids gathered at the Andre Chreky Salon in Washington, DC to get ready for the day.
While Claire was getting ready at the salon Jay and his friends were toasting the occasion at the Arts Club of Washington, where they would all gather in the evening for the reception festivities.
Claire’s father picked her up to escort her to the Kennedy Center for her first look and portraits. His expression says it all! We love it when we are able to capture the father seeing his daughter all dressed up!
FIRST LOOK
Claire and Jay decided to combine the first look and portrait locations and we were super happy they did! The Kennedy Center provided a perfect place to be socially distant and give them privacy for such a special moment.
The weeping willow lined rooftop terrace with views of Georgetown and the Potomac served as a gorgeous backdrop for their Kennedy Center Wedding portraits.
PORTRAITS
Claire and Jay’s Kennedy Center wedding portraits were a lot of fun, made so because of the couple and their wonderful bridal party! Now it was time to get these two to the church and get married!
CEREMONY
Claire and Jay were married at the Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, DC. It was a beautiful Catholic ceremony with their closest family and friends in attendance.
Jay’s loving gaze at Claire as she walks down the aisle towards him is the sweetest. These little moments are some of our favorites to capture during the ceremony!
RECEPTION
Claire and Jay held their reception at the Arts Club of Washington. We were very excited to return to this beautiful, having photoed another beautiful couple, Erin and Emil’s wedding here three years ago!
Can you believe it, Claire made her own wedding cake! We would imagine it made it taste even sweeter! 🙂
The reception was an intimate affair, with their closest family and friends joining them to celebrate.
Congratulations to Claire and Jay! We wish you a lifetime of love and adventures together!
