You know those weddings in movies, where the ceremony takes place in a charming little church in a tiny town where everyone knows and loves one another? Then the reception is held outdoors under the stars while people toast the couple and dance under strings of lights while children run around joyfully before settling down around a campfire? Well, Laurie and Sean just experienced this dream Oregon wedding and we were so fortunate to be there to photo it!
The wedding day arrived and all of the bridesmaids gathered at Laurie’s family home, which sits on top of a hill overlooking the town. We were all treated to coffee from the family drugstore while the hair and makeup process began. There was excited energy in the air as everyone decided on the perfect hairstyle and makeup for the day. The men of the family, including her dad and three of her brothers, tried to stay out of the way, coming in to the kitchen to quickly grab some food and coffee before retreating.
While exploring Heppner in search of the perfect place for Laurie and Sean’s first look, we discovered just how beautiful the town is from above. So once Laurie was ready, we set out to into the hills. One thing we did not expect was just how windy eastern Oregon is! We got Sean in place and as Laurie stepped out of the car, her veil instantly starting flying!
The wind worked in our favor though since it was as if we had a giant wind machine on set. Her hair and dress flowed perfectly, adding just the right amount of drama to the photos.
Once the ceremony was over we headed to Laurie’s aunt’s house in Hermiston for the reception. Laurie and Sean were in the car ahead of us and we encouraged them to stop along the way if they saw a location that looked good for portraits. We jumped out in the middle of a road that appeared as though it went on forever. We still had the wind in our favor as we got some pretty epic shots of Laurie in her veil!
During dinner Laurie and Sean were showered with toasts and a very special musical performance by her uncle. The expressions on both Laurie and Sean’s face showed just how much they appreciated all the love that was being shown them.
Once dinner was over it was time for dancing. Their first dance was lit by the warm golden sunset as their family and friends gathered around to watch.
After hours of dancing, singing and laughing, the party began to wind down and Laurie and Sean were whisked away in a limo, still glowing from all of love shown them throughout the day.
