If we had to use one word to describe Uju and Tim’s Martins West wedding, that word would be joyous. From beginning to end pure joy radiated from the two of them and it spread to all of us who were there.
August is a perfect time for a Saratoga Springs engagement!
The weather is absolutely perfect, flowers are in bloom and there is an extra energy in the air because it is horse racing season at the Saratoga Race Track.
Rachael and Joe love Saratoga as much as we do so we couldn’t wait to get our day started at The Yaddo Gardens, an artist retreat with a beautiful formal rose garden that is open to the public.
Lori and Peter’s Raleigh courthouse wedding was exactly what they hoped it would be, a celebration of their love for each other, surrounded by their family.
Photoing weddings for friends is always a treat, because you are able to spend the day with them, dedicating yourself to capturing special moments between themselves and their families. What better way to show them you love them than that?! Lori and Peter’s wedding is no exception.
One park that was on the top of our list for our mini National Parks tour was Arches National Park.
This was our second visit after a brief, impromptu stop during our last cross country extravaganza in 2015. All we had time for on that trip was the hike to Delicate Arch. It was so magnificent that we instantly knew we had to return to discover more of what this beautiful national park in Moab, Utah had to offer!
It did not disappoint.
An oncoming storm made our trip to Garden of the Gods short and sweet. Sure made for some dramatic skies though!
On our way out to photo a wedding in Napa, CA this summer, we kicked off our mini National Parks Tour with a day exploring the unstoppable beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park.
We first visited last year where we were treated to a picturesque snow fall and herds of grazing elk. It was magnificent!
Ali and Shannon’s Lansdowne Resort wedding was a celebration of love, joy and family. We were so honored to be invited to be their wedding photographers and capture all of the moments, both big and small, that happened throughout the day.
UK Travel: Kissick Weddings goes international! In what felt like a situation right out of a movie, we were traveling to the UK to photo Ann and David’s wedding with the bonus that we were spending Christmas in Scotland! While making arrangements we decided we were going to take advantage of this incredible opportunity and spend a little extra time exploring England.
We took the red eye from JFK to Heathrow and spent four wonderful days exploring and experiencing all that London has to offer. We decided to treat ourselves to a stay in the chic Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, where we met the nicest doorman ever! After a brief conversation where we told him we were excited to some of the Christmas markets and events in London he came back with a hand written list of some recommendations for us. You’ve got to love customer service like that!
We spent our days visiting all of the must-see sights in London and at night we got caught up in the spirit of the season by visiting Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and being serenaded with carols by the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square. We spontaneously decided to take in a show on the West End and were lucky to get standing only tickets for Les Miserables, which was a really affordable way to see such a fantastic musical! In between all of the sight seeing we couldn’t help but photograph all of the wonder that is London, from street lights to stunning department store window displays to a delightfully adorable Paddington Bear found in Notting Hill.
When the Walsh Family asked us to do their Meadowlark Botanical Gardens family pictures we were happy to say yes! The last time we were here was for Uju and Tim’s Washington DC Engagement Session in September. Another chance to use this beautiful botanical garden for portraits? Yes please! We met Claire, Ed and their adorably red-haired, blue-eyed children Sean and Anna and set out to capture moments of them as a family, making sure to take advantage of the garden’s many spots for portraits. Our favorite moments from the day are those of the kids being themselves in all of their silly, funny and sweet ways. We especially loved our last shots of the day, when everyone got goofy for some pretty amazing family portraits!
