Catherine and Kenneth’s Queens NY wedding helped us kick off our 2016 wedding season with style, beauty and a day filled with family and celebration! The DIY details that Catherine and Kenneth worked so hard on made the wedding a dream to photo in addition to the many time honored traditions that took place throughout.
But first, here are some of our favorite portraits from Catherine and Kenneth’s Queens NY Wedding!!!

Once hair and makeup had been perfected and everyone was dressed and ready for the day to begin Kenneth and his groomsmen arrived at Catherine’s parents’ home to offer the traditional gift of a roast pig. Before Kenneth was allowed through the doors he was required to answer some questions about Catherine, otherwise he and his groomsmen had some working out to do! After powering through pushups, squats and jumping jacks Kenneth was finally granted permission to present the roast pig to Catherine’s father.
Kenneth did not have to wait too long to see his future wife. Shortly after his workout, he waited outside her house as Catherine was escorted outside for their first look.
Soon it was time for everyone to head to the church. The bridal party had been given the important task of decorating the church pews with the beautiful flower spheres that Catherine and Kenneth had spent many hours assembling. Their hard work was definitely noticed! The traditions continued as Catherine and her parents prepared to head to the church. Her mother carefully helped her out the front door, holding a red umbrella over her head to protect her on her journey.
The ceremony was held at The Roman Catholic Parish of Mary’s Nativity. After a beautiful ceremony in front of a grand altar Catherine and Kenneth were married! As they exited the church they were showered with rice by their family and friends.
Kenneth and Catherine returned to their parents’ homes after the ceremony to prepare for the next event of the day, the tea ceremony! Once Catherine was dressed in her stunning Chinese wedding gown, she was chauffeured to Kenneth’s house by her bridesmaids. They then served tea to his parents and family and Catherine was presented with traditional gold bangle bracelets and a jade necklace. Next, they returned to Catherine’s house to serve tea to to her parents and family, who presented her with more gifts of gold jewelry.
The reception was held at Mulan Restaurant in Flushing, NY. The rest of the evening was a non-stop celebration as their family and friends toasted the newlyweds and danced the night away. A highlight of the night was when the DJ arranged a sing-a-long where the guys serenaded Catherine and the ladies serenaded Kenneth followed by a rousing rendition of (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing.
