When we first met with Sam and Ricardo to discuss their wedding, it was clear that a predominant theme revolved around their celebration, family. Earlier in the year they were married in a small, intimate ceremony, so this day was a chance to invite all of their family and friends to join in witnessing their marriage and to celebrate together.
The day started at the Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast in Elkton, Maryland. There was excitement in the air as Sam and Ricardo’s loved ones joined together to eat breakfast and prepare themselves for the day. Their guests had traveled from far and wide, from California to Portugal, and you could tell that everyone was elated to be there for the happy couple.
The ceremony and reception were held at Fair Hill, a unique and beautiful location in rural Maryland, just south of the Delaware border. When we first visited the area for location scouting, we were amazed at the photo opportunities. A turf horse racing track, rustic buildings, rolling fields, even a beautiful covered bridge! All perfect locations for bridal portraits. The ceremony was held underneath a gigantic tree in an open pasture, the aisle covered with flower petals dropped by two precious flower girls. After the ceremony the guests were treated to popcorn while making their way to the spectator stands for a large group picture, echoing how important family was to Sam and Ricardo. They wanted to make certain that they would remember the day forever by capturing all of the happy, smiling faces there to celebrate with them.
After a whirlwind tour of the numerous photo backdrops, everyone gathered at the Tea Barn to eat, drink and dance late into the night! And when we say dancing, we mean dancing! From a very energetic Hora to some pretty epic dance battles (yes, dance battles), Sam, Ricardo and their friends left everything out on the dance floor.
At the end of the night, as everyone helped clean up the evidence that fun had been had, you could see just how in love the newlyweds were and how excited they were for their new life that lay ahead.
