Rachael and Joe’s Sixty State Place Wedding was absolutely beautiful! Set in an old bank that has been converted to an event space, this was such a unique location and perfectly suited the bride and groom.
They are both from the Albany area, with Joe being from the state’s capitol and Rachael growing up a little further north in Clifton Park. Their love for the area guided their choices on where to get married and they were excited to take advantage of it on their wedding day.
We had previously explored another of their favorite spots when we did their engagement session last August in Saratoga Springs. The Yaddo, Congress Park and Merry Monk (which Joe owns) all provided great backgrounds for their photos. We had such a great time with this sweet couple during their engagement session that we could not wait to spend the day with them.
Rachael and her bridesmaids all gathered at her childhood home in Clifton Park to get ready. Her bridesmaids all wore coordinating floral robes that were a gift from the bride. While their hair and makeup were being perfected they had a relaxing morning enjoying snacks provided by her mother and reminiscing about fun memories from the past.
There is something so sweet about a bride getting ready in her childhood bedroom! Rachael got dressed in her beautiful moscato toned wedding dress as her mother, sister and close friends gathered to help.
While the ladies were prepping for the big day in Clifton Park, Joe and his groomsmen were enjoying the morning getting ready in Albany. Once they were ready Joe was escorted by his best man to meet his beautiful bride!
Once everyone was ready Rachael and her bridesmaids were on their way to Albany in a limo.
We headed to the New York State Education Building for Rachael and Joe’s first look! This is a beautiful building with a massive colonnade of marble Corinthian columns. It was a truly epic moment as Rachael climbed the stairs to where Joe was waiting for her.
The Education Building was a beautiful backdrop for some of Rachael and Joe’s bridal portraits!
Our next stop on our tour of some of downtown Albany’s beautiful architecture was the New York State Capitol. This beautiful building is an absolute must for wedding photos!
Our last stop for portraits was the Empire State Plaza and the quintessential Albany landmark, The Egg. We made sure to take advantage of this unique building as well as the rest of the beautiful plaza.
Once portraits were over it was time to head to the ceremony! They were married at Blessed Sacrament, which is a beautiful Roman Catholic church in Albany.
After the ceremony it was time for the celebration! Everyone headed back downtown to Sixty State Place for the reception. A bank from 1902 that has been converted into event space, there are some truly unique features to this spectacular venue!
The cocktail hour was held downstairs in the old vault and the reception took place in the ballroom, surrounded by beautiful marble walls and an ornate painted ceiling. We took advantage of this beautiful space for some portraits of the bride and groom.
The newlyweds were joined by their friends and family on the dance floor all night as they danced and celebrated the joyous union of Rachael and Joe! Their Sixty State Place wedding was quite remarkable! Everyone was enamored with the unique and beautiful choice of wedding venue.
Congratulations Rachael and Joe! We wish you both a lifetime of love and adventure together!
